洛阳大伯公千秋 (农历二月初二) - 26/02/2009
Yesterday, after work, still drizzling, on the way home, went to the 洛阳大伯公宫 as it was his "Birthday". The celebration will last from 农历二月初二 to 初十, his 财库 will be open for people to "borrow" ang pow (借红包). The place was very crowded. There was a very big cake in front of the altar and a few staffs were busy cutting and distributing. Over at the other end, was the distribution of red eggs.

Kaypo Club Chinese New Year Gathering 31/01/2009
On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, Auntie Irene organised a gathering cum makan session for her Kaypo Club Members and some of her students. About half of the invited turned up and the rest were held up by their own activities like visiting, being visited, invited their friends over and etc....
I went there quite early to see what I can help Auntie Irene as she had injured her wrist. The makan session started at about 2.30pm. Half way through the session, I received a call about the condition of my dog and I left in a hurry. (See post on 31/01/09)
Too bad Nicole went back to her hometown in Malaysia, if not, she will definitely enjoyed the 卤三层肉. Hahahahaha!!!
经济炒米粉, 虾枣, 团团圆圆, 卤三层肉 and 鲍鱼鱼生 with 特制的酱料
鱼丸豆干咖哩菜 and 干贝鱼鳔双圆汤
Michelle Prepared 的日本麻滋 and Apple Pie
Joanne Prepared 的福建五香 and Penang Achar
Becky Prepared 的龙眼红枣果冻
Due to the 虾枣 was so nice, Sunday, we got more ingredients to made again. This time, the mixture was done by Margaret and the wrapping were done by Margaret and me. Auntie Irene's wrist still hurts.
Then Xueli and family came visiting in the afternoon... Just in time to try our 虾枣.
P/S : If possible, pls click on the googles ads on the left a few times when visiting my blog. Thank you!!! :D

Christmas 大餐 II 25/12/2008 & Cheezy Sunday 28/12/2008
On Christmas Day, while shopping for groceries, received a call from Auntie Irene saying that Margaret was there to make Bread Pudding and Custard Cream Puff and also Michelle Chear bought her a German Pork Knuckle and asked me to join her for dinner.
By the time I reached there, already quite late. Prepared the Custard Cream, remove the German Pork Knuckle from the double layered vacuum packed plastic bag, cut open and baked.
We had the dinner quite late but we enjoyed the German Pork Knuckle. Thanks to Michelle Chear! :D

On Saturday, as Margaret needed to go watch 凤飞飞's Concert, Auntie Irene also took a rest. After meeting, went around window shopping.
Sunday, another busy day. After came back from market with Auntie Irene, we prepared and cook the food for lunch and dinner. We had Teow Chew Porridge in the afternoon when Margaret arrived and Cantonese ones (after heating up the afternoon ones) in the evening.
咸菜三层肉 (More Garlic Please)
咸鱼蒸肉饼 (咸鱼 from Michelle Chear)
苦瓜焖肉碎 (Yummy, my Favourite)
After lunch, we whipped up the ingredients used to make the Strawberry Cheese Cake. Look at the PINK colour on the cake, so appealing... make us wanting to bite onto it. Hurry up, go get tissue paper! Don't wet my blog! :D

冬至汤圆 and Christmas 大餐 21/12/2008 (Tissues and Napkins needed to standby before viewing this post)
Saturday (20/12/2008) is my dog Novel's 14th birthday (the mother of the 3 dogs in the top photo) and also my third brother's wife gave birth to a cute baby girl. Congrats to them.
After meeting, still early, decided to go to Auntie Irene's house. But I was a bit too late to miss my favorite Fish Head Bee Hoon that she prepared. Luckily I am not the only one to miss it, Nicole, too. :)
The yummy Fish Head Bee Hoon which I missed, looks yummy
Then we made this Scones which Margaret had been asking Auntie Irene a number of times.
French Scones best served with Ice Cream, Jam and Honey 冬至吃汤圆 with peanut fillings
Morning, busy preparing the ingredients for this following Chicken dish for Hui Ji. It will be the grandest and most delicious dish among the four. By looking at the photo below and you can image for yourself ... (Reminder : Please don't drool here and flood my blog, use the tissues or napkins you standby earlier.) :D
汇集十全十美凤凰宝
Finally, remember that Traditional Christmas Fruit Cake we made on 07/12/2008. Its harvest time! After 2 weeks of "watering" with Rum and Brandy, Auntie Irene cut up the cake, rewrapped with aluminium foil and ready to distribute to her friend.

Lastly, we used the excess ingredients from the two days to prepare our 冬至 and Christmas 大餐. The chicken became our "Turkey". Seaweed left from the Fish Head Bee Hoon became our soup and the rest from the chicken to cook this Mixed Dish (zap pa lang). Yummy yummy.

Ah! Sunday! Its 冬至, time to eat 汤圆 and be older by one year (wondering how many one year older we can get in one year ... 吃汤圆 + one year, lunar birthday + one year, etc.) If counted like this, we would be a few years older every year. Kekekekeke.
Long time never 吃汤圆, this year really enjoyed the 汤圆 with peanut fillings cooked with Gula Malacca, ginger and pandan leaves at Auntie Irene's house with Auntie Irene and Margaret, errrr.. Nicole not there again.

Weekend Happenings 27/09/2008 & 28/09/2008
After a long preparation, the 1st F1 Night Race in Singapore was kicked off from 26/09/08 to 28/09/08, many roads closure causing the MRT trains to be so congested. Luckily the event was over successfully.
Saturday attended the closing session of YCIS forum series with Guest of Honor, Minister Teo Chee Hean @Scarlet City at AMK Hub. (Will post separately).
It was supposed to end at 1pm, instead dragged till about 1.30pm, followed by a buffet lunch. During lunch, we had a small group discussion with Minister Teo Chee Hean till about 3pm. Supposed to attend a meeting at 1.30pm but due to the boss WEDDING on Sunday, it was cancelled. So I can go down to Auntie Irene place earlier.
When I reached there, Linda, Xueli and Margaret were preparing to bake the Banana Muffins. Then Auntie Irene asked Margaret to bake 3 pieces Warmth Chocolate Cake (暖心巧克力蛋糕) prepared earlier for us to try. It was so to see the molten thick chocolate inside flowing out when u cut the cake.
Warning: The fillings is very hot! Handle with care!

We did the Fried Durian again by popular demand......

From Birthday Cake to Mooncake
Friday, 05/09/08, was Nicole's birthday. We had a small celebration of Steamboat and BBQ at Auntie Irene's house. The attendance was very good. Despite having a mild food poisoning, Auntie Irene still prepared the food and the cake single handedly. THANK YOU AUNTIE IRENE. We had a great time, especially Nicole.
董莉's birthday also falls on the same day, so Auntie Irene invited her over to celebrate together. That was a last minute arrangement and nobody prepared any present for her. So, I went to buy a small gift on behalf of everyone for her.

Saturday, 06/09/08, went to Downtown East to attend the Young NTUC Forum Series in the morning (8.30am to 4pm), but left after the morning session to attend meeting. At first, there was no intention to go to Auntie Irene's house, but since the meeting ended early, so I decided to go there. They were having another round of BBQ as there were leftover from Friday. When I reached there, they had finished eating. So, I ate alone. Actually, they were very thoughtful..... 2 of them (M & N) BBQ the food, 1 (X) heat up the soup...... I felt very 受宠若惊!!! :) Thank you everyone.
Yummy yummy
豆沙饼 made earlier
Sunday, 07/09/08, morning after tution, went to Auntie Irene's house. As need to get something for her at Bedok, I also did some shopping a well. When I reached there, they (Nicole, Auntie Irene) already finished preparing 茶叶蛋 which will be taught by Love 972 FM's 粉樱 over "厨房笔记" on Monday & Tuesday at 11.45am. Then we began to prepare the fillings for making the mooncakes. Later, Mabel and then Margaret joined in. Auntie Irene also taught me how to make Durian Paste from fresh durians. We made 冰皮月饼, 传统烘烤月饼 the whole evening. Auntie Irene also helped me make one box for my mum. Thank you Auntie Irene. :)
