I was invited to attend the ceremony last evening (05/12/2006) at Tampines West Community Club at 7.15 pm. I was there to receive my Bronze Award for donating blood >25 times. The next level -- Silver Award will 50 times for man & 35 times for ladies. I calculated, if I continue to donate 4 times a year, I need another 6 years to achieve the Silver Award.
The Guest-of-Honour is Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State for Finance & Transport. She was late (supposed to be in at 7.45pm but came at 8.15pm) due to traffic jam and later during her speech, she joked that she being Minister for Transport need to look into the traffic conditions.
Next she gave out the awards. First to go were the Silver Award recipients. Next were Bronze Award recipients. I was one of them. Everybody took a photo with the Minister when receiving the award from her.
After the award presentation, we had a buffet dinner. The taste of the food were quite delicious. I left at about 9.30 pm.
